Tecate Orphanages

Tecate Treasure Box

Queen of Angels Parish has a long tradition of supporting two orphanages and a convent in Tecate.

Salvaterra is an orphanage for girls, Rancho Nazareth is an orphanage for boys, and La Villa Anahuac is a convent who support themselves through baking and try to minister to the poor in their community. We currently have a collection every month on the first weekend, and items can be dropped in the “treasure box” which is behind the church near the playground.

Currently, the Woestman family collects and distributes the items, and they can always use help. Items that are useful are:

  • Large bags of rice
  • Beans
  • Masa flour
  • Laundry detergent
  • Large cans of tuna or meat,
  • Cooking oil
  • Canned vegetables
  • Peanut butter

From time to time there may be a special request such as school supplies. Monetary donations are also accepted but must be made in cash.

If you would like to participate in this ministry, simply drop off your donations monthly, or place an envelope in the collection at Mass labeled “Tecate”. If you would like to be a part of the delivery team, call the office at 619-445-2145 to be put in touch with the Woestman family. You may also fill out the form below for more information.
