Adult Faith Formation

Genesis to Jesus

Genesis to Jesus will begin February 1, 2022. It is a 12 week study and will be held Tuesday evenings in the church hall from 6-8PM. It is a study from the St. Paul Center for Biblical Theology.

In Genesis to Jesus you will learn:

What is the Bible, where does it come from, and what is its purpose? How are Catholics supposed to read the Bible and what story does it tell?

These are the ever-important questions answered in Genesis to Jesus. Join us to learn the basic Catholic principles for reading Scripture and to survey the broad outlines of the books of the Bible and their place in the story of salvation.

How it Works

The study consists of four main parts: the videos, the workbook, the supplemental materials, and the leader guide. The videos contain the bulk of the content, and can be viewed by themselves for a rich catechetical experience, but they were designed to be accompanied by the workbook. With a space for notes, recommended reading assignments, review questions, discussion questions and review notes, you’ll be fully prepared to absorb the rich content from the videos.

Supplemental readings come from A Father Who Keeps His Promises, the Bible, the Catechism of the Catholic Church, and Dei Verbum.

Adult Faith Formation and Bible Study

If you have ever had a conversation with someone from another Christian faith tradition, you may have experienced the feeling that they seem to know more about the Bible than you. Queen of Angels is blessed to have had the opportunity to hold Bible studies for many years now.

Bible studies are currently offered Tuesday evenings. The studies we utilize are from Ascension Press, Word on Fire, St. Paul Center for Biblical Theology, and the Augustine Institute. Studies vary from a quick look at salvation history in the Bible to a 26-week study on Church history. Most of the studies offer a video presentation by scholars, discussion time, and reading assignments for the next session.

If you are interested in attending, check the bulletin for upcoming classes. If you are interested in facilitating a class, please contact the parish office at 619-445-2145 or parish@queenofangels.org.
